THE DARKLAND, as the title suggests, is a darker romance. It’s about a very dark place called Anchorsholme Castle and our hero and heroine are kind of thrown together by accident. He’s an Irish legacy knight – meaning that the Lords of Anchorsholme Castle also have lands in Ireland, and in order to breed loyalty into their Irish subjects, they have the Irish knights come over to England and serve them. Kirk Connaught is serving the English lords as his father and grandfather did. But, truly, he’s Irish to the core.
Mara le Bec is a feisty young woman who is very protective of her sister, who has been pledged to marry the Lord of Anchorsholme. The trouble is that the lord – and his stepsister – are engaged in a pretty nasty relationship and look at the addition of a bride for the lord as an intrusion. I’ve always called this book a dark and twisted romance, which it is, but it’s a fun ride and very unconventional. For free, how can you go wrong?? Pick up a copy and read Kirk and Mara’s story!
